Opinions… I don’t know about you, but my kids are full of them… and so am I.
We have opinions on how we should be treated, how we should treat others, what we should wear, and what others should not wear…
Really the list could go on and on.
Often we have opinions on things that don’t even concern us! Funny how that works, isn’t it?
The thing about an opinion is this, it’s just that. It’s not based on truth but rather someone’s preference or thoughts. Boy can we get ourselves into a lot of trouble if we operate, respond and live based on our personal preferences and the opinions of those around us.
I am grateful for Truth. Aren’t you?
When my girls come to me upset because of something someone said to or about them, the very first question I ask is, “Is it true?” With this question, my goal is not to diminish their feelings, but rather to give them a foundation for their response.
I want them to recognize, respond to and love truth. And there is only one place where they are always sure to find it. The Bible—God’s Word is absolutely true!
Our girls will inevitably struggle at some point with who they are, how they have been treated, what they feel and what others say. My prayer is that they [we] remember to seek God’s Word on every area of life!

Truth. I know you have heard that word before. I am sure that if I asked you to use it in a sentence you probably could, right? But what if I asked you to tell me what the word truth means? Could you? Everything you will ever need to know about the truth is already written for you in one book—the Bible. The truth is what God says about any and everything. And every single page of the Bible has truth written all over it.
Sometimes it’s easier to believe something simply because someone else said it was true or you feel that it’s true. But how can you really know?
You have to read God’s Word. It is that simple. It does not matter what your friends say or what you see others doing. It does not matter how you feel and it really doesn’t even matter if you like it. If God says it, it’s the truth and it is good for you!
Second Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that:
“All Scripture is God- breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
The Bible will help you grow up in your relationship with God and it will teach you. It will also tell you when you are wrong and help you make it right.
With Jesus and His truth inside of us, we are made whole and ready to do anything and everything that He is calling us to do! As you continue to grow as a young lady, your decisions will become more and more important. God wants you to know the truth so that you can live your life in a way that pleases Him and is best for you. Look for truth today!
Dear God, I want to know what You think about everything. I want to know how to live for You. Will You show me things in my life that may be wrong and help me make them right? Help me believe what You say and tell others about Your truth.
In Jesus’s name, amen.
