This month at Prayers for Girls, we’ve been praying with our girls verses about their hearts, about their desires, and about the way we’re called to love others. It’s been such a fun thing to hear from moms how praying Scripture with their daughters about these things has improved their relationship and drawn them into a deeper unity.
Scripture always does that, right?
When we are digging into the Word and praying it over ourselves, our relationships, and our situations, we are often made privy to a deeper grasp of God’s heart and desires for us.
5 Verses to Encourage Your Daughter’s Heart
One of my favorite ways to connect with my now seventeen-year-old daughter is texting a short prayer or Bible verse. As she’s gotten older, it’s become a simple way for me to speak truth into her life without her feeling like I’m preaching or lecturing.
These teenage years can be hard on a mom’s heart … but I think they can be even harder on our girls’ hearts. In the middle of all their insecurities, doubts, and fears, pointing them back to God’s Word is both a gift to them and a responsibility for us.
One of my friends, who has a teenage girl of her own, said recently that she wished there was an app where she could search her daughter’s issues and then find a suggested verse all ready for her to send in a text message. That thought nestled itself into my mind and while I lack the skills and resources to create such an app, I knew I could create a list of a few verses we can send or share with our girls that would address some of their most difficult situations.
So, here you go … 5 verses to encourage your daughter’s heart all ready for you to cut and paste into texts or you can download images with these verses on them to send.
When she’s feeling inadequate about her appearance or her abilities:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
When she’s not sure how to respond in a difficult situation:
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5
When she wonders if the obstacles in her path are too large for God to handle:
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:2
When she wonders if she’s messed up too much for God to use her:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
When she needs to be reminded she is loved by the God of all creation:
The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing. Zephaniah 3:17
So, there you go … 5 verses to encourage your daughter’s heart. Feel free to save all those images to send to her. And join me today at Prayers for Girls where I’m sharing 5 Scripture-based prayers you can send to your daughter as well.
