“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Proverbs 31:29-30
Women today are expected to do it all. Not only that, we are expected to look good, and act sweetly while we are doing it. That can make raising daughters tricky business! I pray that my girls greatest pursuit would not be beauty, charm, or the many noble things that they might do. My prayer is that they would seek first His kingdom, and worship the Lord with all of their heart, mind, soul and strength.
Lord,
I pray that you would ground my girls in your Word. I ask that on the pages of scripture they would see your goodness, your grace, your justice, your mercy and your absolute sovereignty. Lord, may they desire to walk with you, talk with you and whole-heartedly obey you with a healthy fear. Would you stir their affections for you, and help them tune out and filter well the messages of the world. Would they pursue beauty that comes from a kind and gentle, strong and honest spirit, above outward beauty and charm. Would you grow them into women who lead well, while submitting to your leadership. Lord, would the noble things they do, flow from hearts that are overflowing with your grace and love.
Amen
