Dear mom, let’s play a little game ok?

Let’s pretend you’re standing in front of a big, full length mirror. Now, what exactly do you see? Take a moment, I’ll be right here….

…Okay, done.

Now, imagine you’re the girl on the other side of the mirror.

What does she see as she looks at you,

without judgement or any preconceived notions or opinions masquerading as facts?

What does she tell you? Does she tell you you’re too tall or too fat? Does she point out your newest wrinkle or gray hair?

Does she comment on your big nose, small breasts, muffin top?

Does she remind you about your messy house, unmade bed, disaster of a kitchen?

Does she criticize your children’s behavior, your husband’s work load, your ability to procrastinate?

Is she quick to remind you you’re damaged goods and not worth loving? Does she tell you you’re not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough or thin enough?

No. She. Does. Not.

She tells you the truth. And the truth is this:

1. You are beautiful. In fact God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
2. You are made in God’s image and God doesn’t make mistakes.
3. You are unique in all the world and you were created to do great things.
4. God is head over heels in love with you.
5. He sees every pain, every hurt, heartache and tear. Did you know He collects each tear in a bottle because you are that valuable to Him and your pain matters?
6. He knows your past is real and painful. But here’s the cool thing. God sees you, not according to your history but according to your destiny!
7. You are strong and beautiful and He has a beautiful story in you. He’s still writing it so hold on to hope.
8. You can do far more than you think you’re capable of.
9. You are gifted in many areas, some you’re aware of, others are yet to be unwrapped in your life.
10. You’re important, critical even to God’s story of redemption. He has important, beautiful work for you to do.
11. She would tell you this: “I believe in you. In your hopes and dreams, your future and your promise. I believe in you and so does the Father.
12. She says you’re not damaged goods. Broken, yes, we all are, but He’s putting you back together in His image and that’s what she sees.
13. She doesn’t see filthy rags but a robe of righteousness.
14. She’d like to remind you there’s work for you to do. Heavenly tasks with your name stamped on them.
15. She’ll also remind you there are a whole bunch of blessings all wrapped up in a big box just for you. Blessings of peace and joy, waiting to be unwrapped and enjoyed.

All you have to do is believe in what she sees, not the lies you’ve been told. She sees the truth about you and asks you do just this one thing:

Take Him at His word.
