You know why, before I even say a word. You know why because, chances are, you’re a grown up girl. And you know. You know what happens when girls start to hear the noise, the blaring sound of the world telling them what they need to be in order to be beautiful. It comes in low and fast, and before you know it, that sound has become a deafening roar of You’re Not Beautiful and You’re Not Enough. You know what happens when girls are left to fend for themselves, when they don’t seize the opportunity to lay their worries, cares, fears, and frustrations before God and work through them with Him. You know what that looks like, and it is not pretty.
We have to teach our girls to pray. I’ll do my best to teach my daughter every day of her life because of what prayer is, what it is for, and what it can do. I’ll do this because I know she’s going to want to hide. She’ll want to hide the parts of her body she doesn’t like. She’ll want to hide how she feels when she looks at another girl and asks, “Why am I not like her?” The world will feed her lies about who she is; granted, the world is wrong, but it is loud. She’s going to need a weapon, a God-given superpower to battle back against what the world will tell her. That power is the ability to talk to God and to know and trust that He is listening, He loves her, and He’s got her.
I didn’t know or understand what prayer was when I was young. I was disconnected from a relationship with God, and I went out in search of my worth with the world’s standard of beauty as my North Star. I don’t know what God has planned for my girl, but I want her to know what I didn’t know: God exists, He loves her, and He made her. He made her on purpose for a purpose. He does not make junk and He does not make mistakes. Ever. She is already beautiful because of who He is.
And when that truth is lost on her, or she forgets, or she can’t think because the world gets too loud, my prayer is that she will find a quiet place and seek His truth. She will listen for His voice and, by doing so, she will learn to make a different kind of noise.

Would love this for my daughters!
I am trying to teach both my girls (and son) to pray. I am feeling like I’ve failed my oldest (she’s 17) because I was never intentional about prayer, God, or church when she was younger. But I’ve made a promise to myself and her that I may have not started out the best at teaching her this stuff that it’s not to late to start now! I have a 3 year old girl too and my prayer is to teach her from this young age to call on God in time of need and to praise him everyday! Please pray for us in this difficult time we are going through right now!
This is wonderful, thank you so much. As I continue to watch my daughters grow, I’m both encouraged by the joys of them and discouraged by the world. I want them to always know the Truth, not just whatever the world says at the moment.
I needed this reminder today! “The world is wrong, but it is loud”- how true. I need to make God’s truth louder for my daughters!
It’s so scary raising a girl today (and I have three!), but you’re right. It’s my job as her mother to train her to listen to God’s still, small voice. Thank you for this reminder!
I agree and people are surprised when they saw my husband and I doing a prayer with my daughter every time she gets a bottle (started this from about a week old). We also read a bedtime prayer every night and I pray with her when I lay her down. She’s a year old now and I hope she continues to learn the importance and value of prayer that I never knew while growing up!
Would love to add this to our nightly reading before bed! My girls would love it!
We have two little girls here. Would love to win this for them. Prayer is so very important, would love to read this. <3
Great reminder this morning!
We are currently struggling with all this with our daughter. Been praying a lot for wisdom.
I have two girls that would be greatly blessed by this book. Prayer is like oxygen to the soul , it’s necessary to be spiritually alive
This would be another way to encourage my girlies for God! I love your blog and am so grateful for your wisdom! Thank you for your encouragement to me as a mother of three daughters!
Would love this to strengthen my daughter up even more!
Would love this for my daughter!
I would love to read this to my five year old!
I would love for both of my girls to really know how to pray and seek God’s will in their lives! My husband and I have been praying with them every day since the day they were born, but I want them to learn to pray on their own. Hopefully, with our example, they will learn what it is to speak to their Creator!!
This would be great for my girls!
I would love to have this for my little Hannah. We are teaching her to pray now and she does such a wonderful job!
After having 3 boys, we finally have a little girl and I pray daily that I can be the best mother to her and teach her everything that I was never taught. Teaching her to pray will be a huge part of that. This book looks great!
I would love to win this for my girls!

This seems perfect for my daughter. I’m hoping she’ll learn to pray at a younger age then I did.
I would love to add this to my books for my Young Girls’ Bible study.
I have 2 girls, ages 4 and 7 who are at the age where they are soaking it all in and this would be a great tool for them to learn how to pray now.
Your writings are so very encouraging. My daughter and daughter in law both subscribe now too, so they can pass the message on to their daughters.
