Courtney Joseph is a mom, blogger, author, and lover of God and His Word! I am so excited she is sharing a little about her life as a mom with us this month. She also has a brand new book out called Women Living Well and we are giving a way a copy today! First, let’s get to know her!

1. How many people call you mom?

2 – I have a 10 yr. old son and an 8 yr old daughter

2. Describe life as mom in one word.

Fulfilling

3. What do you wish someone had told you about mothering in the beginning?

That it’d be the most humbling experience of my life. Lol! I am so grateful – I needed the humbling but growth can be uncomfortable sometimes. I feel like I probably won’t know what I’m doing until they are all raised and right when I finally get it – I’ll be a grandma!

4. How have you changed over the years through mothering?

Grace. I have learned the meaning of grace. I started out with very high ideals for both myself and my children and I think I frustrated us all. When I changed my expectations and allowed my children to be 2,4,6 and 8 year olds and did not expect them to act like 21 year olds – life got easier and I began to enjoy the age they are at. Accepting God’s grace and extending God’s grace to my children has been the biggest lesson of my motherhood journey.

5. How do you prepare your heart for the next stage of mothering, whatever that may be?

I just continue to read God’s word daily and pray over my children and my husband as we parent them. I pray that God will give us wisdom for the days ahead. I also pay close attention to those I admire. I watch how they are parenting their teens and when they hit bumps in the road – I listen to see how they handle it. Because I know it’s a bumpy road ahead.

6. What Timeless Truth do you cling to?

We live in the information age. We are endlessly taking things into our minds through ipads, ipods and iphones but the only timeless truths we have in this world -come through the great I AM. I have to fight for time alone with God in the midst of my busy calendar. I have to wrestle my covers to get out of bed in the morning. I have to continually come to the living well and drink – no gulp - down the living water that God has for me in his word so I can live well.

7. What do you find yourself praying over and over for your kids?

I pray that that my children would not just be Christians but that they would be growing Christians. I pray that they would not just serve but that they would be servant leaders. I pray that they would not just marry another believer but that they would marry another believer with a passion for raising generations in the faith. I pray that they would sense the presence of God in their lives and have strong convictions and that they would be brave, bold and courageous. I also pray as my son said on his baptism day, “I want to follow Jesus till the day I die.” I pray they follow Jesus faithfully until the day they die.

8. What resource do you suggest for raising girls?

Over at GoodMorningGirls.org we have Free Bible Reading Plans, Bible Study Tools, devotionals and youtubes. We have recently begun creating devotionals for children, so the children can be reading daily in the same place as their moms. I highly recommend all the tools over at GoodMoringGirls.org
