Here’s the honest truth sweet mama: the hand that rocks the cradle really does rule the world. Because no one will influence your daughter’s life more than you. No one.
You are writing her future one day at a time. One meal, one word, one bath, one lesson, one choice, one diaper, one movie, one argument, one kiss, one boo-boo, one hug at a time. Millions of moments and thousands of days will add up to a life of purpose when we value those moments and treasure those days. Even the hard days. And the hard days will come.
The days are long mama, I know. You give and do more than you ever dreamed possible especially as school gets ready to gear up again. But, remember this one thing in the midst of the laundry, the schedules, the carpools, the shopping and cleaning, those never ending daily tasks that can grind our good intentions into powder:
You are raising a world changer. And the only way to do it is in the day in and day out. The routine. The endless lessons repeated over and over as you strive to instill truth and integrity, diligence and purpose in your child.
And here’s the really cool thing:
You are a world changer too. In fact, God had you in mind when He gave you your daughter. He knows you and He chose you before the foundation of the world because He knows you are perfect for the job!
No one but God knows your child as well as you do. You may think you’re not good at anything but I wholeheartedly disagree. You are an expert at raising your child. You know all her little quirks and funny habits. You know her personality and how she learns. What she’s really good at and what frustrates her. You believe in her relentlessly. You know her potential and over time, you will help her fully reach it.
Being a mom comes with some difficult days and some challenging seasons but no matter the challenge, He is with you.
- He’s there deep in the night as you rock a colicky baby to sleep.
- He’s there at the doctor’s office when a disability is detected and your perfect vision of a perfect child and a perfect life comes crashing down.
- He’s there when the income you depended on suddenly disappears.
- He’s there when you have to move. Again.
- He’s there when any of the thousand things that can go wrong do go wrong.
He is with you because He says so, mama. “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)
Hold on tight to Him and let Him guide you, direct you, refresh you and delight you as you walk through the days and years and seasons with your child. He has a big dream for her and because it’s a big, God-sized dream, He looked all around to find the perfect mom for your precious little one. And you know what He did?
He chose you.
Mama, how can I pray for you as you raise your world-changer?
