Keep Your Heart With All Diligence for out of it are the issues of life.
Some days I am in awe at just how big my little girls hearts are. They grow and stretch with their circumstances and they can fit more love in there than most adults have for one person or one thing. Is it because their heart is clutter free? Or perhaps because we are born with a capacity to love large like our Creator and as grow older we give away parts of our heart to idols or close our hearts up to those things which may cause us pain?
This verse has become one of my most commonly repeated reminder’s to my girls. Keep your heart with all diligence. And as my daughter’s grow older, I have noticed the effort it takes to protect their hearts. The flood of media, peer pressure, worldly advice and relationships can creep into the borders of the heart and shape our daughters future.
Watch the borders of your home, and filter out the things that matter the most. We don’t want to shelter them, or keep them from knowing the truth of the world. But, really mom’s - Some things matter more than other’s. And it all begins with the heart.
Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.
How can we teach our girls to keep their hearts open and enlarged for others, yet protect themselves from influences, thoughts and ideals that will flow into the rest of their life? And when the young men come calling? An all new heart matter. Keep your heart.
And so, with all diligence we need to teach our daughters to let God have their heart. All for Jesus. Their time and their thoughts are to be with Him and for Him. The books they read, the lyrics they sing, the language they speak. The words that they believe and the people they love. All leave an imprint on their hearts. To be an outpouring of something in their future.
Friends, may we be the gatekeepers for our daughters hearts as they are little, and the guide for the borders of their hearts as they are older. Look in the mirror of your own heart today. What issues are flowing out and into your life. May our ceiling be their floor.
Keep your heart with all diligence.
