Easter or Resurrection Sunday is the highest, holiest day for us as believers.
We love celebrating our Risen Lord and joining with our faith families to sing and worship together for the hope we have because of the empty tomb.
My childhood memories include frilly dresses and white gloves for church and the requisite squinting into the sun photos with my younger brothers (in their matching suits, of course). After church but before lunch, we hunted the eggs we’d colored the night before. (This was before the days of big Easter Egg hunts at churches.)
It was mostly me trying to get more eggs than my brothers and them wrestling while my mom reminded them they were wearing good clothes and not to get dirty. (Yes, it is reasonable to ask why we didn’t change after photos but before hunting. I have no idea.) Our Easter baskets were the store bought kind, full of whatever candy was popular that season.
As a mom, filling my daughter Casiday’s Easter basket is always a special experience.
Easter is a time for giving special gifts, intended to mark her spiritual journey. From her first gold cross necklace to her first “real” Bible, we have tried not to take lightly the opportunity to remind her of the Christ who gives us reason to celebrate. She’s 17 now and it is still a joy to search for a gift that will encourage her faith and challenge her to keep growing in the year ahead.
Here are a few suggestions for different ages, ideas for gifts that will encourage your daughter to remember the joyful reason we have to celebrate every day.
